Beach Maternity – 1
Black Rock, Victoria
I feel honoured that Hayley and Mitch chose me to document their precious pregnancy / maternity photos. I met Hayley on my first day of orientation at the RMIT University back in 2001. She was in the person standing ahead of me in line and we just started talking. We were both fresh out of high school and ecstatic that we got into uni to study our dream degree. We studied for 3 years then our parted paths until I reached out to Hayley and asked her to join our photography team.
Hayley and Mitch gave me full creative control on photographic direction. I wanted to create timeless, elegant and chic images that transcend the typical pregnancy photos. The aim and intention that I set was to produce images that are editorial with an infusion of photojournalistic. Documentary photography is important and a priority as I like to be non-intrusive on the couple’s connection during the session. It is important to allow the expectant parent’s to have a moment to themselves, so they can take in the reality of what the world is going to be like when baby enters the equation.
